From Dexter to Sinister: Workshop at Mercy First

As part of the larger challenge to traditional notions of family represented by From Dexter to Sinister, I offered a workshop at Mercy First, a foster care facility in Brooklyn. During the workshop participants were introduced to the basic concepts behind heraldry and blazonry. They were then invited to collaborate with each other to produce their own set of symbols and language to describe their unique families and histories.
